Zach is an economist. Kendall is an art history major. Now that is one huge range of potential discourse. Geelong was the setting for this shoot, where bats bats bats were our companions. I have always been inspired by creatures of the night. Without sight, every other sense is heightened. And instincts rule. That’s how I like to work, guided by instinct. These two make it so easy, can’t wait for their wedding in Daylesford.
Is it possible to have a job that is as easy as pressing a button between breaths? It is, and it was was for a day with Kate and Nick. So I didn’t have to work here, I just sucked it all in. The setting was rustic and wonderful (they had bambis for goodness sake!), the family and friends so easy going, and then there was these two. Nick gave a speech where for the first time I heard the significance of a match made in heaven expressed in terms of cosmic probabilities. I’ll buy that, I was always a numbers man. I knew from their engagement shoot that this was going to be special. And it was.
Update: Kate Nick are featured on Polka Do Bride!
And the slideshow….

Wow, this is stunning work. I just saw your work on Polka Dot Bride. I’m a fellow Melbourne Photographer and I’m shooting here later in the year. Love the deer! You’ve really captured the light.

Impatiently waiting to see more- this is lovely!
Some weddings are tightly scheduled, neat and orderly. Which is great. Some weddings are little more open to whim, like a great wind swept conversation, they settle and move as the mood takes them. Hello wedding type two.
Rob proposed to Des at the beach. The particular beach was in Apollo Bay, but for this shoot it was a school night, so we all thought St Kilda beach was close enough. One of the few pieces of advice I still retain is this: never take Punt Road. I didn’t, Des and Rob did, so I spent 45 very nice minutes sipping a pina colada and watching a volley ball game. So I was very relaxed when they finally arrived. And even after all that traffic, they were also very relaxed. The engagement shoot was two days ago, the wedding is tomorrow. I like these guys, they work on Greek Time – which suits me just fine.
This is the second house party I have shot for these guys. And when I say party, I don’t mean raspberry cordial, piñata and a ballon folding artiste. These are serious themed get-togethers hosted in their home with an amazing level of attention to detail. And the guests really know how to participate. The albums are the same fine art albums I use for weddings. These are fun gigs, more please.
